Abdul Halder Designs in the Upcoming October Indian Fashion Week
Designer Abdul Halder will be showcasing his new Spring Summer collection in the Upcoming Wills India Fashion Week in October-2013
Hailing from Kolkata, Abdul Halder decided upon a career in fashion design at 19 and undertook formal education at the Pearl Academy of Fashion in 2002. Eveningwear and haute separates were his area of expertise and he did brisk business. Following a brief period in Milan,Abdul returned to India in 2006 and debuted his label in the Gen Next category of Lakmé Fashion Week where he wowed fashion editors with ethereal weddings gowns. Shortly his trophy case featured an award for ‘Youngest Achiever in Fashion Design 2008’ from Hindustan Times and he showcased at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and Lakmé Fashion Week for 11 seasons. His prevailing aesthetic is feminine and spirited. Milestones include showcasing at the United Nations headquarters in New York in July 2008 and designing a collection for late Michael Jackson (an opportunity brought to the designer by his pianist—legendary classical musician Roberta Swedie—who assigned him this task of designing garments for the King of Pop inspired by Indian Maharajas). Currently he retails Indian and western wear lines across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Dubai, London and Kenya.
