It’s an extremely proud and special moment for the Indian Cinema as Dangal won the prestigious Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts – AACTA award for the Best Asian Film.

The very beautiful and immensely talented actress Sakshi Tanwar received the award on behalf of the whole Dangal team and each word in her speech reflected how elated and proud she was!

Wearing a traditional red and white saree, she walked up to the stage, representing her team as well as India. She made sure to highlight the Indian culture too in front of the global audience as her first word and gesture on the stage was of ‘Namaste’.

Here’s what an overwhelmed Sakshi Tanwar said –

“Namaste Australia, we are hugely honoured and humbled to receive this award on behalf of the entire Dangal family. Reel, real, on-screen, off-screen, Nitish Tiwari our director, Aamir Khan Productions, Disney, and Mind Blowing Films. It’s a very big moment for us because we are here representing a film which is about women empowerment, which is an inspiring , true story of following your dreams. What makes it more special is that we are winning the inaugural Best Asian Film award and representing our country India, what a proud moment! What makes it even more special is that we are receiving it from the legend himself. Thank you to the grand jury, Russel, AACTA.. Thank you!”

Undoubtedly, Dangal is one of the best films ever made in Bollywood and it feels awesome that it’s being appreciated in other countries. This will only encourage Indian cinema to produce more such films which focus more on the content.
