It is the era of returns for daily soaps. First we heard news of couple Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj of Sanjeevani making their return to the small screen followed by Pankit Thakker, and now it is actress Divyanka Tripathi. Tripathi who was previously seen on SAB TV’s episodic sitcom Mr. & Mrs. Allahbadwalle has finally returned to daily soaps.
The Banoo Mein Teri Dulhan prodigy will be seen playing the character of a Tamilian in Ye Hai Mohabaatein. Tripathi is elated to have returned to the television screen in a familiar format, “It’s a huge pleasure that Ekta Kapoor chose me for the serial”, as told by Divyanka to the press during the launch of her new show ‘Yeh Hain Mohabbatein’
Loosely based on Manju Kapoor’s novel, Custody, the show revolves around Ishita (played by Tripathi), a Tamilian girl who falls in love with an upscale business executive.
In the novel, the ongoing romance between boss and employee leads to her divorce with a question of the custody of the former couple’s children. Getting back into format after having done lighter characters including her participation in a season of Sony Entertainment Television’s comedy bonanza, Comedy Circus will be a treat for her fans.
Ye Hai Mohabbatein, also featuring Karan Patel, begins December 3rd on Star Plus.
