Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke airing on Star Plus is the new serial on the block that is making heads turn.
The show is a spin off another very popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that airs on the channel and it stars Shivangi Joshi and Moshin Khan. In the first week itself Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke got a good response and people are liking the lead pair of Rhea Sharma and Shaheer Sheikh.
The female of lead protagonist of YRHPK Rhea Sharma is not a new name for the TV industry. She has been seen as Nishi Khanna in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar (Sony Entertainment Television) and Kanak in Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji (Star Plus).
We recently caught up with this young talented actress to know insights about how she got into the character of Mishti and how is the shooting coming around.
Can you share something about your character Mishti? We have seen a few episodes, in which there have been flashbacks of the past and we are getting to get a sense on what her character would be like?
Basically my character Mishti has gone through a lot of hardships in life and she was abandoned by her father and mother as well. So there is this Maheshwari family taking care of her. She has her Bade Papa and Badi Ma, Rajshri and Vishambhar . So they are my mom and dad for now.
But still Mishti has this angst and aggression against her father. Because of what has happened with her in her childhood, it has made her very skeptical and selective about boys and relationships and marriage soon. She thinks that it’s very important to know your life partner before getting married and give time to know each other no matter how much time it takes.
Also because Mishti’s friend got divorced and her marriage didn’t work out very well, so she thinks that it’s better to know the person before getting married. She feels that one should not make this decision over a lunch or a cup of tea or even couple of dates with the family of the person. It is very important to know the person you are marrying and it should be the decision of the person who are getting married.
I read in a recent interview that you said that you were in eight standard when you first saw Shaheer, so how is the experience of working with him?
He’s extremely, extremely talented person and it’s always fun to have scenes with him because he always entertains everyone.
He cracks jokes. It never feels like one is working with someone who has done so much work or someone who is so popular.
He is definitely very senior to me but he never makes me feel that way. There is a very friendly atmosphere on the sets.
Also you were shooting in Kutch for a while. If you could give me some anecdotes of your shoot time there?
We were shooting in the white desert in Kutch. We also shot a very nice romantic song over there. We are not shooting this show like a typical TV show. We are giving it a Bollywood and filmy feel. Also the customers are very Indo-western kinds.
And of course, there is a cultural touch in each and every character. I think those episodes that we shot in Kutch have already come but the song is yet to come and I think the song is the best part about the shoot. I simply love it.
So how different it is now to shoot on the set. Any anecdotes that you will like to share on how different it is?
See, the set that they have made has Gujrati elements in it. So whenever I enter the set, I don’t feel like I am in Bombay, it is like this huge set that they have made.
It is like this huge haveli and there is mirror work everywhere and you know the furniture and everything it’s like a typical Gujarati home.
Okay, and but of course the people were different and of course the weather is different and the food was different.
So here also do you get Gujrati food on the set?
Yeah in the scenes also we use Dhokla and all so that it looks convincing.
Any Favourite food that you have really started liking after getting on this serial, Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke?
I really like Undhiyu in sabji, the way they make it, I really like it. And of course the dhokla. But see it is a Gujrati backdrop but the families are Maheshwari’s and Rajvansh’s.
You told me that there are a lot of Indo-western dresses but can you give me a little more details about how the styling for your character Misti has been done?
Yeah, Misti is a very today’s girl. She is not very old-fashioned. She is a bit nerdy but very feminine. She wears dresses and kurti’s with mirror work and Kurti lehenga’s. Mostly she wears knee-length dresses.
