One of the longest running shows on the tube, Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been winning hearts for quite sometime now.
It is safe to say that no one celebrates festivals in a grander way than the characters of the show. With Makar Sankranti coming up, Shahi talks about all that he has planned for the show.
What is so special about the sequence of Makar Sankranti in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai?
Basically, the festival Makar Sankranti is celebrated every year in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. It’s very traditional and it’s celebrated in a unique manner every year.
This year again there will be a kite flying sequence between the family members. It will bring out the dynamics between the various characters.
And the highlight would also be that Naitik is coming back. He comes at a point where he is going to reveal something and will also get to know something.
You always use colours very vibrantly, the pictures speak a thousand words. How do you go about choosing the entire set up?
Basically, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been a very vibrant and a colourful show. Whenever you see Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, you get positive vibes. Festivals become the ideal platform to show the vibrancy of colours.
It is the longest-running show and people wonder how you are able to retain the audience?
The creative and the writers of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai don’t rely on short-term plans. In spite of competition, they stick to their texture. More than the high points of the episodes, they rely on characters.
We have also managed to shoot in Rajasthan very authentically. You have no connection with Rajasthan then how do you manage that?
Rajasthan stands for old values which merge with today’s India. It’s rich in colour, rich in heritage and vibrancy and that is the true essence of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
It’s the one show which has so many characters and everyone still stands out. Comment.
I think we have managed to retain a lot of actors. Every character has its own role and plays it will. There are 20 to 25 actors every day on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s set.
Every character comes alive and has been kept alive and their relevance in the story has always kept in mind. All the actors and characters in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai get their time and face in the story.
