June 7th, date that marks the birthday of the lady who revolutionized the Indian television, an inspiration to all the women out there, fondly called as the “Soap Queen”, the one and the only, Ekta Kapoor.
I have grown up watching her shows, literally. I was in third or apparently fourth standard when Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi came and the rest is history.
The lady gave numerous new concepts to television which others are following even now. Right from the concept of plastic surgery to the concept of time leap, all credits to her creative mind. It would not be wrong to say that she is a trendsetter. Whatever she does, becomes a trend and others simply follow her footsteps.
Balaji shows come with a guarantee of becoming an instant favourite of the audiences because of a gripping storyline and the cast, especially the leads of the show.
Needless to mention that we all have been a shipper of the jodis made by her. If in real life it’s “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” then in reel life it’s “Ekta Kapoor Ne Bana Di Jodi.” From Sujal – Kashish to Prem – Heer, Arjun – Arohi to Ram – Priya, Neil – Ragini to Ishita – Raman, Abhi – Pragya to Raghav – Naina. And, how can we forget the magic of the iconic love story of Jodha Akbar. After watching the movie Jodha Akbar, image of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Akbar and Jodha respectively was established in our minds but as we all know, Ekta Kapoor is a pro at visioning what’s unthinkable for us.
She paired Rajat Tokas as Akbar and Paridhi Sharma as Jodha and we all know, what happened next? The original series which aired on Zee TV ruled the TRP charts and audiences hearts but what’s more magical about it is, the repeat telecast of the series on Zee Anmol is repeating the history created by the original series. Ever heard of a repeat telecast garnering maximum TRP across all GECs? Well, that’s Ekta Kapoor’s magic for you, ladies and gentlemen!
The lady waved her creative wand in the world of web series’ this year and her debut was absolutely bang on! May it be the much talked about and already in demand for the season two, Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat or Romil and Jugal, a gay love story or Dev DD or The Test Case, we loved them all, didn’t we?
And, actually grateful to Ekta Kapoor for telling us the beautiful love story of a gay couple, Romil and Jugal. The sincerity with which this particular web series has been made is appreciable. We live in a country where gay marriage is still illegal and such shows will only help broaden the mentality of people who think it’s something abnormal.
Being an admirer of hers , I can go on and on but that would turn this article into an essay and the editorial team of Fuze will get crazy editing it back into an article. So, let me just conclude it for what actually I wrote it in the first place for, a birthday wish.
Wishing a very Happy and Blessed Birthday to the Soap Queen Ekta Kapoor from all of us at Fuzion Productions! May she continue to rule the television with her shows. God Bless her and may she celebrate many-many more birthdays!
