Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi aired its premiere episode on 29th February 2016 on Sony. Here are the hits and misses of the show after watching the very first week of it –
Shaheer Sheikh as Dev Dixit – After playing different shades in his career, it’s refreshing to see Shaheer playing a character of an young angry man like Dev. He has faced a lot of difficulties in his childhood and has only one dream. He wants to give a better life to his mom and his 3 sisters. Dev was only eight years old when he lost his father and owes everything to his mother for the sacrifices she has done in their upbringing.
Shaheer is doing full justice to his character. It’s nice to see him enacting a role different from his lover boy image. As a character, Dev who is a tough, strong headed guy who is not only a responsible son but a caring brother to his sisters and can go to any level to fulfill their demands and to all those Shaheer fans, I am sure he is here to become the dream boy of every girl who is looking for a responsible guy.
Erica Fernandez as Sonakshi Bose – After having done South movies, Erica Fenandez is making small screen debut as Sonakshi Bose, a Bengali girl who is strong and independent and believes in solving problems and not fixing it. Her chirpy, fun loving and easy going attitude and her one liners add humor to the show. As an actor, Erica is considerably doing a good job and so far she has attracted the viewers with her bubbly nature.
Supriya Pingolkar as Ishwari – Who else can portray the role of Ishwari better then veteran actress Supriya Pingolkar. She has perfectly portrayed those emotions needed for the character. For Ishwari, her life revolves around her son and her family. She believes kitchen is like a friend to women and does everything by her own. She is not only emotional but a strong lady who has sacrificed her life to give a better life to her children.
Emotional and Predictable Concept
So far the story has focused more on the mother-son relationship with some heavy dosage of emotional dialogues which will remind you of some old famous movies based on mother-son relationships during the 70s. The story tells the tale of how for a mother her son is her priority and her life revolves around him. The show starts by showing the family shifting to a big bungalow, which was a dream of Dev so he can provide all the amenities to his family especially to his mother who has faced lot of difficulties in life. Everyone is happy except Dev’s Sister Neha who had to sacrifice her own prospects of education for her brother Dev and this still disturbs her and is unhappy about her life and feels her brother is the main reason to all her worries. She doesn’t leave any chance to taunt him and remind him about how she was treated secondary by their mother and we support Neha here.
Even when their circumstances have improved and Ishwari can treat all her children equally, she’s still obsessed with her son. Well, here the concept looks more predictable and regressive. We have seen sons given more importance in our society and now our TV is airing the same concept and to top it all the emotional dialogues like we heard Ishwari saying,”Rasoi aurat ki saheli hoti hai”, I doubt any of today’s practical women would agree on that.
From Dev’s dialogues “Zakhm aur Dard jab purane ho Jate hai tab yeh dost ban jate, aur dosto ko piche nahi choda jata dil main rakha jata hai”, it seems like he had a grey past and there is more to the story. It’s too early to comment on the story but so far it’s looking like a typical drama with son not going against his mother for the love of his life. Let’s hope the story surprise us once it focuses on the love life of Dev and Sonakshi and it’s different from the saas bahu saga we have been witnessing for years on television.
The first encounter surely reminds us of all those tom and jerry couple who fight initially due to different personalities and eventually fall in love like Asad- Zoya, Arnav-Khushi and many more other on screen pairs. Seems like its same with Dev and Sonakshi and CVs too are inspired and have used the same formula. Well, why not as far as it works for the audience!
The first encounter of Dev and Sonakshi banging into each other and start on giving lectures on manners was quite interesting. We are looking out for more of their encounters in upcoming episodes and how they will fall in love and face problems due to difference in opinion and Dev getting stuck between her mother and his love.
Coming to the Monday precap, seems like finally the story will explore on Sonakshi’s professional career as a consultant in a hospital. We see how Dev calls Dr. Sinha and he rushes to his house. Sonakshi questions him that how being such a big doctor he can go for house visit. To that Dr. Sinha says that Dev is one of the biggest trustee of the hospital. He also later tells her that even her services might be required. She says she is a consultant and doesn’t differentiate between her patients. It would be nice to how these two arrogant people face clashes due to difference of opinion.
Lastly, if you are looking out for a love story which is more relatable, who faces toughest battle to choose between a family and love, where mind plays an important role than heart, then do watch the incomplete love story of Sonakshi and Dev.
