Here comes the second part of Kunal Karan Kapoor’s interview on popular demand. This part is not really an interview.

As an interviewer, I can say that this is more like an account of my discussion with Kunal about his favourite actor and his movies. I must say, Kunal absolutely admires Tom Hanks. There came a point during our discussion (interview) when our choices and views regarding the films matched. I hope you guys enjoy the interview and don’t forget to catch the movies mentioned by Kunal i.e. if you still didn’t watch them!
1) As a child what did you want to become? If not an actor then what would you have been?

I always wanted to be a director and I thought may be acting would be the gateway. I did struggle a lot. I stood outside a lot of studios as a child when I was barely 13 or 14. I did a ministerial role in a show called ‘Rajni’ which was on Doordarshan at that point of time with late Mrs. Priya Tendulkar. It was quite an insight into this whole world at that age. But I had to give it up because of the 10th and studies were more important at that point. Then once again when life was stagnating, I called one of the people whom I met earlier and she invited me for an audition.

2) Name one television actor whom you like watching on TV?

There are a lot of actors actually. There’s Anoop Soni and there’s the Daadi from Balika Vadhu. I think she is fantastic and simply genius. At this point I can only think of this much.

3) You have played the character of a Journalist. What is the one thing that you do NOT like about our profession?

I like the whole subjective nature of journalism but some people make it objective. That’s something with which one may not agree.

4) Hypothetically, if you were given a chance, whom would you like to interview?

Tom Hanks! I think he is one fantastic actor. (pat came the answer!)

5 ) Did you see Captain Phillips?

Yes. It was beautiful.

6) And your review?

I think it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. All my favourite movies have Tom Hanks in it. Forest Gump is my all-time favourite. Cast Away is something I really liked and Captain Phillips is just fantastic.

After this, suddenly the question-answer process takes a halt, as this time I am been questioned by him. He asked “Did you watch it? What do you think?”. I mildly answered the unexpected question by saying, “It’s a mesmerising film.” He then continued again, “I love it. The last part where he is in trauma, I really nearly had tears in my eyes”.

As another movie popped up in my mind, I questioned him further, “Have you seen Gravity?”. He casually said, “Yes I have. But I think I like Captain Phillips more. Gravity was a nice visual experience.”
Completely agreeing to him, I stated, “Captain Philips is going to be the winner this year”. He confidently exclaimed, “Definitely!”.

So, this was my account with the most prominent star on television, Kunal Karan Kapoor. I didn’t expect the interview to end at such an unexpected point. Although when we started, an amused Kunal warned me saying, “Honestly, my answers can be very monophonic at times. Because, I do not do the conversation in my head and just blurt out things. So, you might need to polish a lot of things!”. I just want to admit that it was a complete pleasure talking to this eminent gentleman! Nothing requires any polish if answers come up with such honesty straight from heart! Signing off this time, with the hope that soon we would have another such conversation with the man.
