A beautiful journey ended today. Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha finally reached its culmination. But Mohan (Kunal Karan Kapoor) and Megha (Aakanksha Singh) will live forever in our hearts.
The show was different from the contemporary ones. Neither it was based on any angry young man and Miss goody two shoes’ concept nor was there any ever crying saas-bahu drama. Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha gave us hope, that yes, love can happen twice! And a second time love can also be as deep and passionate as the first one or may be even more than that.
The show also taught us to love…or wait!!! I guess Mohan Bhatnagar taught us to love? The impeccable, incomparable and a man of principles, Mohan Bhatnagar is surely unforgettable. So is Megha, a widow with two children, who had the dream of becoming independent, who never accepted defeat from the torments of life. These two people who were poles apart were never supposed to meet but when the poles met, it resulted into a remarkable love story.
Mohan and Megha were different. Different because they fell in love when they were not supposed to fall. They dared to be with each other when they were not allowed to and they had all the odd reasons to fall for each other. Ever heard any hero say on any show, “Mujhe inke jasbe se pyar ho gaya”?
He fell for her, the moment he saw her struggling with a type writer in order to learn typing during the initial days of her newly appointed job. She went on doing ‘click clack click clack’ on her type writer throughout the night and unknowingly by the morning Mohan Bhatnagar lost his heart to her. Her strength, belief, confidence and fighting spirit against all the odds made him love her. Quite an odd reason to fall for a girl isn’t it?
She loved him because of his principles, truth, and ability to love someone selflessly. He, not only loved her but fell for her child as well. He was ‘The Spiderman’ to Megha’s daughter Nanhi, whom he lovingly named as ‘Chavanni’. Words will fall short to describe the bond of ‘Spiderman-Chavanni’. Their relation was a perfect example of a father and daughter, two best friends and two people whose hearts were connected with each other.
We have seen Romeo-Juliet, Heer-Ranjha, and many such evergreen lovers meeting each other through their balconies away from the defying eyes of the world. Meeting your lover at the roof top or balcony of their house is a common theory that is been used in novels and films since ages. But ever heard of a father coming through balconies to meet his daughter? Well, that’s what made Mohan and Chavanni different and that’s what separated this show from any other clichéd show on television.
Mohan Bhatnagar was admired immensely because he had the backbone for fighting the whole world and most importantly his own love to breakthrough her heart and create a permanent space for himself there. It’s difficult to stand in front of a girl’s parents and say that, “I love your daughter”. However, it is far much difficult to stand in front of a woman’s in-laws and say that “I love your daughter-in-law”. These are the reasons for which millions of viewers showered their undying love on this epic character.
Season 1 went off air only to pave way for Season 2. An aged and more matured Mohan Bhatnagar appeared in front of us. An independent and adult ‘Chavanni’ along with a tougher and wounded mother in the form of Megha came on screen. Relationships changed. Misunderstanding ruled out the unbreakable bond of love. But, destiny had other plans. Their paths crossed again. They became dependent on each other again and so they again dreamt of their togetherness.
God had different plan in his kit. ‘The epitome of love’, Mohan Bhatnagar received immense hate from his own son. But as ‘Nanhi’ said to Mohan once, “Tum to jiji-bua ki kahaani ke uss paras patthar ki tarah ho, jisse chute hi sab kuch sona ban jaata hai”. True to this statement, Mohan sacrificed his life only to make his son come around from darkness. He chose death so that ‘Addu’ could live a healthy life.
But again fate played its cards. Mohan came back in a new avatar. He shocked and surprised us as Vasu. The love for Mohan was too strong to accept this extreme form of Vasu. However, things changed drastically and Vasu was loved and adored just like Mohan.
This was a love story but not just another love story. Always sticking to the title of the show, it passed on a message that true love doesn’t always need words. Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha was a cult show and such shows aren’t much regular on Indian television.
A round of applause for the producers, writers, creatives, director, technicians and actors of the show for gifting us with a wonderful dream named, ‘Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha’. Although, the dream just broke tonight, still, the slumber was the best and deepest.
‘Dil ko hai shaq magar, shayad hum phir mile’ – The most applicable lines for Mohan and Megha. They fell apart and met again and again.
With this note would like to wish the entire team of the show all the good wishes for their future endeavours.
