Cricket is not just a game in India, it’s a religion. It’s not just a game for us but an emotion. We actually end up in tears when Team India loses any important match and we celebrate every win like a festival.
Our love for cricket is world known and it’s only our immense love for the game that lead to the ten successful years of Indian Premier League – IPL!
Keeping that love in mind, Indian Junior Player League T-20 ( IJPL ), a franchise based cricket tournament to encourage the new and raw talent from the small cities is all set to make it’s debut.
Actors Rajeev Khandelwal and Arbaaz Khan are the first ones to get associated with IJPL T-20 and have become proud owners of Rajasthan and Mumbai franchise respectively.
Talking to Aaj Tak, actor Arbaaz Khan, owner of Mumbai Franchise, Mumbai Masters said, “Everyone in India loves cricket and I’m one of them. I have got this opportunity to encourage the young talent in the country and I’m really, really happy and proud to be associated with it.”
While the owner of Rajasthan Franchise, Rajasthan Roarers, actor Rajeev Khandelwal said, “I feel, every kid in his/ her school days wants to play cricket and look forward to be a part of Indian Cricket team but sometimes due to the lack of opportunities or because they are not good enough, they can’t do that. Like, I also wanted to play cricket but I was not good enough at it. I’m just glad and proud to be associated with it as now, from Rajasthan, the new talents will get a chance, a platform to showcase their talent.”
The tournament will be held in Dubai between 19th to 29th September but it has not received any affirmative nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yet.
