Ridhi Dogra kick started her career in 2002 and left the audience spell bound with her portrayal of Priya in Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak? Over the period of time, she has done it all it seems, from grooving to B’wood numbers to performing daredevil stunts in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’.
Not just this, she is also an exemplary person herself. A mere glance at her Instagram and you would know what a positive person she is. On the occasion of Diwali, we thought we will give this pretty actress a call and wish her in person and also converse with her about life in general.
Here are excerpts from the interview:
What is your plan for Diwali?
No plans as of now. We shall be in Bombay and doing Pooja at home and we shall be with friends and family.
You have just finished working for Woh Apna Sa. So, how was it working as Nisha for the show?
It was a good experience. I loved my character. Nisha is one of the best characters I have played and it is definitely something that is very close to my heart.
It gave me a lot of scope to perform. Despite the fact that it was a negative character and people appreciated it so much. T
his made me realise that my risk paid off. It was a really big risk and I was quite nervous at the beginning but I have great memories of the show and I think it did great for me.
It was a short stint because the show took leap but I have no regrets and I am also very happy. I am happy that they have changed the story. I am happy that they are doing what they are doing, so I am happy for them also.
You just shared that you made some great memories while working for Woh Apna Sa. Any one memorable incident that you would like to share?
I think definitely working on the character is not just my memorable memory but also something that I am striving to do again.
It was such a great experience, everyday going on set. From the moment I used to wake up to wear my makeup, I never for once felt complacent. I was always working on my toes.
Every line that I have said in that show, till the time I was there, they were all mine. That is the level of work I had put in the character.
I followed the script, screenplay and story but I did not say the same dialogues. I made Nisha literally on set. So that I think has been the biggest high for me as an actor because I not just got to put my role into it but also got appreciation for it.
I remember initially when I had changed the lines, I really thought that the writer or the producer will come up to me and say Ridhi we noticed that you are changing lines, please don’t change it.
My focus was that I am changing everything so they should not have a problem but instead I was getting compliments. So this is my most memorable part about the show that if you go and watch it now, everything that you see is my work with my director and co-actors on the set. I look forward to working like that sometime in future.
The other thing I miss is eating with everyone. We are all foodies. So we only talked about food whenever we used to see each other.
What can the fans look forward from you in the coming times?
Fans can look forward to another role perhaps, which will be equally testing and challenging for me. That is all I can promise. I have nothing in my kitty right now.
There are two-three people that I am meeting right now and there are projects that I am stirring. Let’s see what materialises but I am only giving an ear to the kind of roles that I would like to do. Hopefully I should do something in a month or two. I don’t want to sit longer than that.
We also hope to see this vivacious actress back real soon and we wish her a Happy Diwali and best of luck for everything new that she partakes.
