For any fiction show running on the Indian Television platform the love story of the hero and heroine; the two lead protagonists of the show is the base. If two people are poles apart it is a common knowledge that when these two poles clash they attract. There is a law in physics that goes like this ‘Like Poles Repel and Opposite Poles Attract’. This law is applicable to the love stories running on the Indian Television Screens too. Till date there have been many shows which have followed this concept of ‘Opposites Attract’. The recent addition to these bandwagon of umpteen shows on ‘Opposites Attract’ is Nautanki Films’ Do Dil Ek Jaan’ on Life OK which showcases the life of two extreme opposites, two people who are not only different in their personalities and thoughts, but they are different by the kind-of lives they have lived and are living, Raghu (Ayaz Ahmed) and Antara Kaul (Nikita Sharma).
Raghu has had his share of hardships and struggles in his life and circumstances have made him ‘Raghu Bhai’ ,a local gangster in Mumbai but yet a man with a golden compassionate heart. Antara on the other hand, has had a protected life in the beautiful Valley of Kashmir and with the sudden tragic death of her father Ashok Kaul (Farooq Sheikh), Antara’s life has turned upside down and she had to leave her home and move to Mumbai with her brother Ishan and mother Geeta Kaul (Kishori Shahane). The current track in the show is focusing on Raghu and Antara being at constant loggerheads and from time to time there are miscommunications and misunderstandings between the two of them. Antara currently is working as a caretaker at Raghu’s place for Raghu’s Granny; Ajji Shaanta (Jayshree T.). The actress was earlier seen in Star Plus’ hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? where she essayed the character of Arnav Singh Raizada’s (Barun Sobti) maternal grandmother. In the current scenario Ajji is trying her level best to play cupid between Raghu and Antara as she has noticed the sparks flying between the two of them. Ajji with her intuition that Raghu and Antara ought to be a good match for each other is creating situations where the protagonists of the show are forced to interact and she is using her Ajji stature and forcing Raghu’s best friend Machmach, played by actor Jas Karan Singh, earlier seen in Star One’s popular show Miley Jab Hum Tum, do and act as she says. Ajji and Machmach surely add the happy flavour in the show while Raghu and Antara are in look-out for chances to blame the other.
Ajji’s tricks are hitting the target and the growing attraction between Raghu and Antara is visible to the naked-eye. With Rasika’s constant efforts to send Antara out of Raghu’s house, seems like fate is acting against Rasika’s vile tactics . Whether Raghu-Antara fight or maintain silence, the growing bond between the two of them is undeniably present.
Raghu and Antara seem to be in a phase where there are indeed sparks flying all around them. They at times help each other whether directly or indirectly and at times they are at each other’s throats blaming each other for anything and everything. Whether they fight, argue, or show indifference to each other the fact cannot be missed that there is surely some special bond, a special connect which is getting Raghu and Antara more and more attached to each another. Though the two of them are yet to realize the growing connect between the two of them but for the viewers, it is clear from the growing interactions between Antara and Raghu that sparks have already started to fly between the two opposites who come from entirely different worlds.
To know what future has in-store for the lead characters of ‘DDEJ’, to know how Rasika (Ridhima Tiwari) will react and act based on the growing closeness of Raghu-Antara, what does fate have in store for them, all this and more will unfold as and when the story of Do Dil Ek Jaan moves forward.
Finally we would like to give a thumbs-up to the actors, the creatives, the technicians, the makers for doing a commendable job for the show as a whole.
Don’t forget to watch Do Dil Ek Jaan Monday to Friday at 9:00 PM only on Life OK.
