Infertility – A topic everyone is aware about yet refrains from talking. Over 30 million couples in India suffer from infertility and considering the patriarch society that we live in, we still don’t want to talk about the same more because of the discomfort and painful experiences associated rather than because of the empathy we feel towards the same.
Kartik and Naira’s life in the show has taken a drastic turn, not literally though but still yes. Why you ask? Well, looking at the calm, composed and open minded individuals that they both are, the wish to have a child is very normal and the hindrances in having one may bother the two but on a completely different tangent as compared to their families and the society and yes, that surely makes it drastic for them for now.
With the aim of sensitizing the society over this crucial and much avoided topic, making people understand the pain a couple goes through (physical, mental, social and financial) and making a move towards making people empathetic towards this, the makers have been very intelligently and subtly handling the track till now, taking in and executing some practical scenarios and responses from every aspect in a couple’s life.
A highly valued and fundamental activity in human’s life – Building a family, that everyone dreams of and a dream that Kartik and Naira have seen together.
There are a few bumps in their dream though but the desire to build a little world of their own have given both of them the strength to face the obstacles but the additional support of family and friends is what one needs at that moment to bear the physical and emotional consequences of every trial and tribulations a couple goes through while passing through this phase.
Unfortunately, the idea and dealing with the issue isn’t as sophisticated here as in the West and the females in our society mainly have to bear the brunt of it all, the end which definitely takes a toll on one’s mental and physical health too.
However, we are glad here to have one such character defying all odds and the makers trying to send out some significant message through each and every part of the journey.
We are talking about none other than Kartik Goenka here who has once again set up major goals with his single gesture.
When living in a time of male dominated society, where female is usually considered as the main reason for not being able to give the ‘khushkhabri’, and men on being asked about the same take it on their pride and ego, Kartik himself went on to get himself tested for the same reason. A reason that’s medically considered as a mere disease and guess what? His manliness is still intact!
Talking about the show right now, Naira isn’t barren but reproductively challenged for now and is yet holding onto even a single ray of hope that she finds some solace in.
The sole reason being, motherhood indeed is the greatest feeling a woman would want to experience, the experience of nurturing a life, giving shape to your own flesh and blood and bringing it into this world going through the toughest of time, Naira wishes to experience all of that too and not alone.
She also wants Kartik to experience this roller coaster ride of life with her and their little one along. And for that she is ready to face the obstacles with open arms and a strong will.
While this progression seems to be a gateway for something more productive and even better learning experience the reactions and repercussions to all the happenings in their lives have been very intricately depicted by the makers.
Also, Naitik’s concern for his own princess was pretty evident. As a parent none would want risking anything over their child’s life and on the other hand Kartik’s moral and emotional support, his worries and yet his assurances are being Naira’s greatest sustaining element right now.
The path ahead seems not easy for the issue is already ridiculed and stigmatized one but we hope, the way Kartik and Naira are treading onto the path, waging and winning the intermittent battle of hope and despair at every step, we hope they set some great examples all along and if nothing more, can make people empathize with the issue a tad bit.
Last but not the least, a huge applause for the makers for coming up with the decision to roll out this track for Kartik and Naira and subtly dealing with even the smallest nuisances of the issues in the same context.
